So there's these two younger (18 year old) girls I work with who have started reading the (in)famous Fifty Shades of Grey books. Great. Broaden your horizons girls. The problem is, the two of them being so young, so "innocent", so clueless. It has made any discussion on the books completely useless. They just finished the first book and now they think they know everything there is to know about the BDSM culture and lifestyle. They speak like they are all knowing, and I can't correct them. I can't tell them that this amateur erotica is just a fantasy situation and that the situation in the book is unlikely at best.
The thing that gets me about books like these or other BDSM themed pop culture mediums, is that they always paint the active people as either criminals, or mentally unstable. From my experiences those people only make up a part of the community, and for the most part, their messed up posts do not contribute to their BDSM activities. As well, being in the BDSM community does not mean we are into, kidnapping, rape, etc. We are not criminals, in fact, we frown upon most criminal activity. I just recently watched an epiosde of Criminal Minds where a man kidnapped a girl and kept her as a BDSM sex slave. There have been numerous episodes of CSI, Law & Order, Criminal Minds, etc that portray crimes based in BDSM. It's annoying.

Practical Flogging
Flogging (along with bondage) is perhaps the most common physical BDSM activity. It is relatively simple to perform, often doesn't require specialised or expensive equipment, and can be done in a large variety of ways. There are many different ways to flog, and many ways of using a flogger or whip.

Successful Polyamory
This is a post lifted from fetlife profile EroticWetAtomic.
I've had a lot of people, anyone from close friends to new acquaintances ask me about how Kamm and i manage a successful poly relationship. I can't help but smirk, at least on the inside because i don't consider myself successfully polyamours. SHOCKER. I know, read on, there is a good explanation. I consider myself functionally non monogamous.

Playing Under the Influence
I have an explicit disregard for my own safety when it comes to playing and scening. I like pain, and I like being taken to the edge of my sanity, and thrown over. It's a thrill for me, so I have adopted the mantra "I don't really care what happens to my body." That being said, I still follow some very BASIC safety precautions as well as the people I have played with.

Puppy Play - Being A Pup (A Beginner's Guide)
An article that was posted in Fetlife's Puppy Play group written by Wolf_puppy.
I have been working on what it means to be a pup from my perspective. I have tried to break it down keeping in mind knowledge of pup play and money for gear. Keeping it cheep and simple to start with and getting more complex and expensive as I get more into pup play.
If anyone would like to add to it I would love to get a different perspective.
I would suugest for both Trainer/Handler and pup go through this guide and my Being a Trainer/Handler guide

Mummification
Mummification is a specialized form of bondage and sensory deprivation which involves wrapping the subject in some material or combination of materials. Mummification can be either quite severe or relatively gentle and comfortable, depending on the materials and techniques used. Regardless of severity, it tends to be one of the more involved "scenes," as a full body wrap takes quite a long time to accomplish. But for those who enjoy it, it's definitely worth the time and effort!
Mummification can be performed many ways, but the principle is the same. Instead of plastic wrap, you can use cloth or latex bandages or even leather strips, or even pieces of cloth secured with duct tape or other tapes. You can also get something of the same effect by using cleavages and hoods. But since anyone can obtain plastic wrap or pallet wrap inexpensively, I will describe that technique here.

The Truth About Kinky Women
I got this off a post on fetlife written by Septimus. I like it a lot.
You want to meet a girl that you can explore your kinky side with. That's wonderful.
Let me ask you something:
Let me ask you something:
- Do you have a match.com or OK Cupid a profile that says "I'm a guy. I'm looking for a girl. If you're a girl or know a girl, would you send her to me please?"
- Suppose you're into stamp collecting. Do you go into stamp-collecting forums and say "I'm a guy who thinks he may like stamp collecting, and I'm looking for a girl to fuck and teach me about stamp collecting."?
- Do you see a girl at Starbucks drinking coffee and say "Hey, I like coffee, too. Wanna fuck?"
